Design Factory, located in Otaniemi, Finland, is a mental and physical environment of over 4000 square meters, enabling creative work, knowledge sharing and experience exchange. The physical premises are designed for flexible use with free interaction and prototyping made as easy as possible. Spaces can be easily modified and rearranged for various set-ups and different purposes of use. Last year I published a couple of video-interviews spotting some of the people that make DF such a spacial place. Jussi Hannula (project manager) and Esa Santamäki (spatial designer) provided an overview of DF philosophy and set of values. I also met with Maija Itkonnen, the entrepreneur behind PowerKiss (wireles charging solutions)

Design Factory just released their annual report 2009-2010. I’d strongly recommend you to pay them a visit and grab a physical copy, but if that is not possible, then you may want to download the PDF version.

Stanford’s d.school just released this year’s Bootcamp Bootleg; a working document that captures some of the teaching that d.school imparts in their “Design Thinking Bootcamp,” course.

The guide outlines each mode of a human-centered design process, and describes a number of methods which may support your design thinking throughout the process.
