During lasts months I’ve been working closely with Martin Charter (CfSD) on the development of the international conference Sustainable Innovation 2010, which this year will be held in Rotterdam (NL) and will focus on green growth, eco-innovation, entrepreneurship, and jobs.
On 15 and 16 June, Barcelona will host the International Herald Tribune Global Clean Energy Forum. For two days the future of renewable energies will be discussed with amongst more than 300 politicians, top business figures and world industry leaders from 30 countries.
The competitiveness and funding of renewable energies, future innovations and an assessment of expectations for the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference - COP 17, scheduled to take place on 9 December in Durban, are some of the issues up for discussion at the event, whose slogan is “Is the world ready for renewables?”.
In 2050, 75% of the world population will live in an urban environment. The constant population growth will require an urgent reflection on how these spaces will absorb and facilitate the life of their inhabitants. Fira de Barcelona’s new event, Smart City Expo & World Congress, which will be held from 29 November to 2 December, responds to each of the challenges that will arise with this scenario and redefines current cities. The congress will be the meeting point for sector professionals, heads of public administrations and experts, who will give the keys to understanding the workings and development of cities of the future, known as smart cities.
The concept ‘Smart City’ refers to cities that, seeking to increase the quality of life of their inhabitants, develop technological improvements in order to create urban environments that are not only more liveable but also more efficient in the management of available resources, whether they be energy, water or air quality. This need has led to high tech companies from different fields providing large cities with new technological applications, which also means a new business opportunity.
This weekend we attended the first Leancamp Barcelona, and we really enjoyed it.
Leancamp is an unconference – an open, interactive, multi-track event – which brings together the world’s Lean, Agile and Design-led business leaders, and practitioners from different disciplines. It’s a high-energy day focused on learning and knowledge transfer.
Just came back from a trip to Tel Aviv where I participated as speaker at the event “Boosting Eco-Innovation and Resource Efficiency to go Towards a Green Economy in Israel”, as part of the Horizon2020 program.
